Mapping Out Our Movement

This week in WW (Weight Watchers) we focused on the changing seasons and our changing movement plan. We explored how different times of the year can bring challenges in terms of keeping up our regular routines. We delved into what gets in our way. Asking the question what is the friction?

Once we sorted out what gets in the way. We looked at what motivates us. What are the things that fuels us?

We looked around and explored what is in our environment that supports our movement plan.  What are the elements that are helpful.

Currently in my home I have a walking pad and a rower. I have ring rows, and I have been focusing on strength training since November of 2024. The season is changing, I already have my kayak out and have been on the water. I will continue with my strength training. It will be different, I may add....

As this is the month of my Birthday, I generally complete the number of burpees to match my new age. My strategy this year is to do two a day until I hit day 30 leaving me with 8 burpees to complete! That is knowing the friction and finding the way around to fuel my body to complete the task!

I would love to add... stairs

My Friction
My Friction

Stairs are challenging, I really do not have a lot of them. I would have to go on an adventure to explore options of stairs in my neighbourhood. Hence the friction!

The weather is changing, I will be on the water soon daily. The wind is part of the friction for me. Safety first and when the wind is high, I stay off the water.

The fuel is the warm days and when the winds are low the water calls my name.

I live on the Cobequid Bay. An inlet of the Bay of Fundy which is home of the highest tides in the world. I live in an amazing place. The tide rises and drops over 16 meters (53 feet), and I get to witness the ebbs and flows each day. When the tide is low....it is really low and I seek lakes to kayak on. There is more friction in that. Yet I can overcome friction in the living of my values.

In just over a month I am participating in a Mud Run which has focus on 17+ obstacles and four categories of fun, strength, agility and muddy! I am so looking forward to this adventure. More information or to see the obstacles go to https://www.mudgirlrun.ca/obstacles?_kx=omPt31XJbUTlVL21GcaS0p7im0eOHN3AJfAj54ug9gN7oTuh0q_2rdPMoUZYCwDb.SNavSNhe

I will have lots of fuel and friction over the next few months and I will love both the flow of the fuel and the ebbs of the friction.

What about you? What changes are ahead for you as we shift to a new season? How will you limit your friction and add to your fuel.  Best of luck
