Living Freely Through the Lens of Love: the beginning...

I have been on a journey towards love for a very long time. It is painful and it is beautiful. It is elusive and it is all encompassing. It is worth every effort I have put forth.
My world changed in 1979. I left to go to university and on the 17th day of November my mom died. Today, 17th day of November 2022, I am surrounded by people I love and who love me. I am visiting the home of my place of birth and marking this the 43rd anniversary of her death with family.
Today as I honour my mom with love, I experience her leaving as a longing for a hug. It seems like a whole life time ago that she left us. Yet, on some levels of my being it feels like just yesterday, that I was with her as she took her last breath.
As I traveled here yesterday amid the falling snow, I recognized in my bones this as the first time I have been able to be present with family on this date. It is a miracle. Love is a miracle.
This is the land of my home in the present moment. I feel surrounded by love each day as the earth holds me and the sun warms me. The tides ebb and flow just as my journey in this life has ebbed and flowed.
This is the home of my sister. She also lives near the water. As I look across the Miramichi River and to the East I can imagine the place my mom is laid to rest. She rests on the shores of the Miramichi River.
The home of my birth also shares the same shores. I feel love when I am surrounded by water. I imagine I felt love in the waters of my mother's womb.
The world of my birth and the world of my life in this moment have come full circle through the building of relationships with love, compassion, grace and new memories.

Among these is an 18-karat gold open-face pocket watch from the shop of the Liverpool, England, watchmaker S.I. Tobias & Co. The watch's hands have stopped at 11:05, the approximate time of the boiler link explosion that sank the ship. Though it's link unknown which passenger may have boarded the Pulaski with this watch, the Tobias family of British watchmakers were well-known in the 19th century, and their reputation was such that their watches were known to link have been faked on occasion.
