How do we budget our....

  • time

  • resources

  • energy

  • food

  • sleep

There are so many options to what we might and how we do budget all kinds of things. This week in WW (Weight Watchers) we looked at how one might build a budget blueprint that allows us to save, stretch, and spend our point budget on seasonal favorites while continuing to live within our values and meeting our personal goals. We have lots of options with daily points, weekly points, zero-point foods to make it work for us.

In terms of the different pillars of sleep, activity, mindset and food. I find myself recognizing how these pillars line up with the way I live and want to live my life. My life and WW (Weight Watchers) match in so many ways. We may speak a different language from time to time. However, we can to relate to one another.

When I think Budget...the first thing that comes to mind is my time. How do I utilize the time in my day to fit in things that are important. My priorities at this point in my journey are:

  • Sleep

  • Community

  • Activity

  • Music Practice

  • Food Preparation

  • Mindset Practice

I aim for 7-9 hours a sleep per night. I am not always successful. However, I set myself up in ways that the possibility of meeting that goal is real.

I start my day by texting myself then people I love and appreciate in my life. I also connect with people daily on zoom and/or through FaceTime Some days I am privileged to have human contact in person!

I aim to get activity in each day. My goal is to close all three of my apple watch rings. I am currently on day 2332 days of closing all three rings. Working my way towards 2500 days. It is a priority, and I have lots of options in terms of movement to reach my goals.

I aim learning to play the clarinet. It is a challenge, and I believe challenges are good for me. I am currently working on the scales that contain flats so i can learn them. Then I will tackle the sharps. Now the biggest difficulty I have is.... remembering them. I budget time each day that I am home to put in time on the clarinet.

Food preparation continue to be one of my hugest challenges. I am finding batch cooking really helps as I am not one who likes to cook each day. I would sooner take a nap. Having things, I can take out of the freezer and heat up has been helpful.

How I budget time for mindset skills is that I take time to utilize the techniques under the discover tab in the WW (Weight Watcher) app. Or I utilize the skills offered through my therapy group.

My three go to skills are:

SMART GOALS

Making a budget for our finances helps us ensure we have the money to spend on what is important to us.  This skill can be utilized across so many areas of our lives.  As I continue to build the life, I want to live I find it helpful to practice skills in all areas of my life.  I hope you do too!
